The O.T Assessment

Well the day of the Occupational Therapy assessment has arrived!  Boy Wonder wasn't aware of the assessment so that she would hopefully get a real picture of how he copes in school.

We got ready for the day in the usual weekday style and arrived at school just before the bell went. I had noticed that Jet had split his stitches on his mouth so explained to Boy Wonder that I would need to nip him back to the vets but he would be okay.

I went home to tidy the house from the madness of the weekend and after taking Jet to the vets it was soon time to pick Boy Wonder up from school so that the O.T could finish her assessment at home.

She did a lot of fine and gross motor skills tests with him which didn't reveal anything, not that we expected them to. She then went through a sensory profile checklist which highlighted the auditory hypersensitivities, the hypo sensitivity to touch, pain and personal proximity. I later emailed her with all up to date reports that she had asked for plus a bit more information on why we need the report to illustrate the sensory difficulties and the impact they have on his anxiety. Now to wait and see.....

After the O.T left, the fairly calm Boy Wonder quickly became agitated because of the change in routine, made harder as I was unable to pre warn him.  I removed Cat Girl from the room he was in due to him starting to shout at her, waving his arms about.

He went off to football training, unhappy and annoyed. However when he returned he did seem a bit more settled and settled down with his DS and malteasers that he had been given by the football coach for winning last weekend.

Cat Girl played with some of her party presents before bed, making a mosaic jewellery box. She was very pleased with her art work.

  2. Hopefully but I'm not feeling that optimistic to be honest. She didn't appear to grasp the extent of the problem I don't think. Will have to see what the report says when we get it. The jewellery box is looking good! X
